Position Overview
Are you a passionate Software Engineer who enjoys working at
the intersection of numerical methods, high-performance computing, and
real-world engineering applications? We are searching for a talented CFD
Software Engineer to join our solver development team for Simcenter Ultrafluid
(formerly Altair ultraFluidX: ):
a small, dynamic, and agile team delivering world-class CFD software to
industries including automotive, heavy industry, and consumer electronics.
Simcenter Ultrafluid features a native GPU-based
implementation of the Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM), allowing users to run
fully transient, high-fidelity aerodynamics and aeroacoustics simulations
overnight on a single compute server. The solver is designed to handle complex
geometries and demanding industrial use cases, delivering high-fidelity,
predictive simulations of real engineering processes, including turbulent
flows, thermal transport, and complex geometry handling.

to solver development, algorithm implementation, and GPU acceleration, while
translating cutting-edge academic research in numerical methods into a
high-performance, easy-to-use software product, and collaborating closely with
the whole development team on the advancement of the code and its capabilities,

Responsibilities
- Contributeto the code development of Simcenter Ultrafluid as part of the agiledevelopment team
- Specify,implement, test, and document new high-quality features of the solver inclose collaboration with the other team members
- Contributeto performance benchmarking and code optimization in a massively parallelGPU environment, while collaborating with other development teams acrossHPC, pre/post-processing, and meshing to integrate Simcenter Ultrafluidinto the broader Simcenter ecosystem
- Collaboratewith product management, application specialists, and QA engineers toensure the solver meets real-world industrial needs
- Participatein daily stand-ups as well as regular review, retrospective, and planningmeetings
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
- M.Sc.or Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering, computational mechanics,computer science, or a comparable physics-based discipline
- Atleast two years of hands-on experience in CFD solver development in acommercial or academic environment
- Highproficiency in C++ and parallel programming
- ExcellentEnglish communication skills
- Passionfor numerical simulation and a drive to find creative solutions forchallenging industrial use cases with a focus on customer value
- Willingnessto work in a close-knit, agile development team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experiencewith scripting or scientific programming languages such as Python or Julia
- Solidunderstanding of the Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM) and its application inCFD
- Solidunderstanding of GPU architectures and experience with the CUDA toolkit
